Dear US friends, I’ve never thought I’d write this, as I’m a pacifist, but…As a pacifist I value peace more than anything and avoiding destruction and war is the core belief.Democracy is, if functional and working as intended, the main pillar of peace.Once democracy is in a state of rapid collapse there might be no way of avoiding an organized defense of said democracy.The second amendment, proposed by Madison and almost identically copied from the swiss constitution, was firstly intended to give the citizens the power to save their democracy. You missed the moment of adjusting the constitution, once policing forces were established. Conseiled carry and other rights misinterpret the original intent.
